Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
Helping remaster one of the most loved Call of Duty games was a big undertaking. MWR was my first AAA game and was such a massive learning experience.
Raven was also the first studio I worked at with a UI/UX team. It was a fantastic learning experience working with so many talented individuals and one that was pivotal in helping shape my UX design strategies, methodologies, and philosophy.
At Raven, I worked on multiple Call of Duty titles in varying capacities, but I had the most impact on MWR.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Architecture & Flow:
I assisted with mapping out info, feedback, and flow for various portions of the front-end and Multiplayer.
Research & Playtests:
I performed game and competitive analysis during a very short pre-production.
Observed playtests for feedback, particularly for new features and designs during development, time permitted.
Wireframes:
I designed hifi wires for all screens and features I was responsible for (including exploring new and cut features).
I also experimented with interactive prototype creation in InDesign, which the team was using for wireframing and charting.
-
Visual Development & Style Mocks:
Tasked with visual design exploration, I collected ref and created several style mocks for potential directions we could go in.
Once we landed on the final mock, I created pixel-perfect art comps to establish the basis for the style guide.
Icons:
I was responsible for many of the icons used throughout the game (gamemode, rank, prestige, medal, seasonal content drops, currency, and perk icons).
Motion:
I created the animation for the post-match rank-up messaging in Flash and worked with one of our engineers on implementing it with our available tools.
Marketing:
I was responsible for many marketing images for in-game announcements (MOTD), seasonal content, social media marketing, and more.
-
Engineering Support:
I provided detailed write-ups, redlining, and documentation for engineers when supporting them with design implementation and execution.
